Know which venues aren’t open yet
Not every licence record means a new venue. Plenty are established businesses getting licensed for the first time — a café adding wine, a supermarket adding packaged liquor, a bowling club after forty years of trading.
So we split every day’s records three ways:
Applications still under assessment or advertised for public objection, with the closing date. These venues cannot be trading licensed yet.
Licence granted. Whether the venue is new or long-established, it’s a business making decisions about suppliers.
Licence transferred. New operator at an existing venue, usually within weeks of handover.
You filter to whichever matters to you and ignore the rest.
What lands in your inbox
Real records from the registers, in the sections the daily email uses. Licensee entities are withheld here; subscribers see them where the licensee is a company.
Isn’t this information public?
Yes. All three registers are free to search, and we say so on every email — we cite the source and the date.
Here’s what that actually involves. Three states, three different systems. Queensland’s returns nothing at all unless you type text into it, so a status-only search silently gives you an empty page. Its records disappear after about eleven weeks. New South Wales uses different statuses and a different structure. South Australia posts applications to a public notice board that only shows what’s still open for objection — the notice is gone once that window closes, usually three to four weeks after posting. Doing all three properly is 30 to 40 minutes a day, every business day.
We don’t have access you don’t have. We just do it overnight and email you the result, so nobody on your team has to remember to.

- Records in the Not open yet section carry a submission closing date, typically two to four weeks out. Approved records are the day the licence was granted. We don’t claim more than the register shows.
- Do you include contact details?
- No. Venue, suburb, licence type and licensee entity only.
- How do I cancel?
- Email us and we’ll cancel it — effective at the end of the period you’ve paid for, no fee. See Refunds & Cancellations.
- Where does the data come from?
- Queensland Liquor and Gaming Licence Applications register; Liquor & Gaming NSW application noticeboard; other covered states’ registers, used under each register’s own terms. Cited in every email.
